Most Wired Hospitals Use Technology to Partner with Patients on Health

Burlington, MA (July 10, 2017) – Lahey Health and its affiliated hospitals Lahey Hospital & Medical Center, Winchester Hospital and Beverly and Addison Gilbert Hospitals have been named among the nation’s most wired hospitals in the 19th Annual Health Care’s Most Wired® survey, released today by the American Hospital Association’s (AHA) Health Forum.

“It is an honor to be recognized as an industry leader in health information technology,” said David Reis, Ph.D., Senior Vice President and Chief Information Officer, Lahey Health. “Our leadership, clinicians, staff and information technology teams are all focused on efficiently leveraging innovative technologies to improve care delivery, outcomes and patient experience across Lahey Health.”

HealthCare’s Most Wired® survey is published annually by Health & Hospitals Networks (H&HN). The survey of 698 participants, representing an estimated 2,158 hospitals — more than 39 percent of all hospitals in the U.S. — examines how organizations are leveraging IT to improve performance for value-based health care in the areas of infrastructure, business and administrative management; quality and safety; and clinical integration.

“The Most Wired hospitals are using every available technology option to create more ways to reach their patients in order to provide access to care,” said AHA President and CEO Rick Pollack. “They are transforming care delivery, investing in new delivery models in order to improve quality, provide access and control costs.”

According to results of the 19th Annual Health Care’s Most Wired® survey, Most Wired hospitals are using smart phones, telehealth and remote monitoring to create more ways for patients to access health care services and capture health information.

“This Most Wired recognition is a reflection of the work we have done to use leading edge technology to improve coordination of care and enhance patient experience,” said Howard Grant, JD, MD, Chief Executive Officer, Lahey Health. “Our electronic health record system and other tools allow our clinicians to practice more efficiently, improve patient safety and experience, lower costs, and ultimately deliver better care.”
